Australia regaining their No. 1 ranking in style
Dhoni won the toss India won the toss and elected to bat first, but they were off to a horrendous start as they lost their five top order batsmen for just 27 runs, which resulted in poor total of 170. They fail of the top order batsman’s make India in trouble. Top order batsmen went to the pavilion with a single digit. Johnson provided early breakthroughs by bowling Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir in his first over with the new ball and snared Suresh Raina later in his first spell. Bollinger too supported him with his best career of 5 wickets, he ripped through the Indian batting order removing Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Dhoni, Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh, as the home team was bundled out for 170 in 48 over’s. Ravindra Jadeja and Praveen Kumar played an excellent innings in their carrier and made their half centuries and made India to score 170. Though Indian bowlers try their level best they can stop Aussies. Australia batted very well and Watson played extraordinarily well with his 49 and other players played constantly and made 172/4 in 41.4 over. With this victory Australia won the series and stood in the same No 1 position in the ICC rankings. This is a big disappointment for the all the Indian fans yet again by losing the series in the hometown. The Indian team needs to improve themselves in all the fields and maintain a consistent in their performance. The poor performance in the bowling and Fielding and inconsistency became the most disadvantages for the team.
